Dougherty, who was “forthright and scrupulously fair” and “elevated the standard of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession.” Recent recipients include David R. Addelman , posthumously (2020) and Hon. E. Jeannette Ogden in 2021. Award of Merit There are no criteria established for the Award of Merit. Its presentation often reflects extraordinary circumstances that deserve special recognition. Hon. Margaret O. Szczur was honored in 2020 and Andrew B. Isenberg & Daniel J. Marren in 2021. Special Service Award This award is not presented annually, but whenever a person has contributed to the good and welfare of the Bar Association of Erie County and its members in an exceptional manner. Anna Marie Richmond was recognized in 2020 and Daniel E. Barry, Jr. in 2021. HOW TO NOMINATE A CANDIDATE FOR AN AWARD Nomination forms for each of the awards are available at www.eriebar.org/awards. Become a Contributing Member! The BAEC bylaws confer “contributing member” status on any member who resides or maintains an office in Erie County and elects to pay an additional $50 in annual dues to help support Association programs. Contributing members have the same rights and privileges as regular members and “such additional rights and privileges as the board of directors shall bestow”, including special recognition in the Bulletin, annual dinner program, and other publications.
