Andrea Tarshus, Esq., Buffalo-based attorney, founder of Tarshus Law Firm, and a member of the BAEC is the first donor to “adopt a room” at Kevin Guest House, America’s first healthcare hospitality house in the heart of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, providing patients and families traveling to Buffalo for critical medical care a safe, supportive place to stay during treatment. In addition to Tarshus’ monetary donation, she has donated nautical-themed furniture and décor for one of the organization’s guest rooms. As many nonprofits continue to struggle with fundraising efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tarshus, who is also a board member at Kevin Guest House, is committed to raising awareness about the Adopt-a-Room Challenge within the Western New York community. The Adopt-a-Room Challenge allows companies, organizations, or teams to sponsor a room on the Kevin Guest House campus. Money raised by Adopt-a-Room helps to cover the cost of bedding, cleaning supplies and toiletries for families during their stay. The funds raised are directly aligned with Kevin Guest House’s mission of providing a “home away from home” for families traveling to the region for critical medical care. Individuals and teams can set a goal to raise funds for a guest room ($1,500), suite ($2,500) or apartment ($5,000). Tarshus has been involved in the launch of the Adopt-a-Room Challenge at Kevin Guest House since December 2020 when she organized a cookie fundraiser with two bakeries in support of “The Cookie Room,” resulting in over $5,000 for the organization. She hopes her continued efforts to spearhead this initiative will inspire other attorneys and members of the local business community to join the cause, especially this holiday season when fundraising is critical. “Participating in the Adopt-a-Room Challenge is one of the most meaningful ways to make an impact on families enduring such life-changing hardships,” says Tarshus. “It allows people to fundraise collaboratively with the goal of providing a welcoming, safe space for guests receiving treatment and guests with sick relatives at a time when they need it most.” BAEC Member Andrea Tarshus Spearheads Adopt-A-Room Challenge For Kevin Guest House Tarshus hopes donation will inspire local business community to follow suit this holiday season

ARBITRATE OR MEDIATE YOUR CASE

Since 2001, I have been honored to have been chosen to serve as a mediator or neutral arbitrator in over 3,000 claims which were pending in our court system. The vast majority of the non-binding mediations were successfully resolved. In addition to having over 30 years of experience in the litigation and trial of personal injury claims, I have lectured on behalf of the Bar Association of Erie County’s Erie Institute of Law and have given in-house presentations on

the topic of ADR. I am a past President of the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association, and a charter member of the NYSBA’s Dispute Resolution Section. I am also a Certified Federal Court Mediator. My fees are extremely reasonable, certainly a more cost effective alternative than a trial. I will be as flexible as possible in terms of scheduling and location, resulting in a quicker and more convenient resolution of your claim.
